You desire to know the art of living, my friend? It is contained in one phrase: make use of suffering. We spend most of our lives conjugating three verbs: to want, to have, and to do. Life has got to be lived -- that's all there is to it. I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Life's challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they're supposed to help you discover who you are. The only way to have a friend is to be one. Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her. The price of doing the same old thing is far higher than the price of change. Loyalty to a petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul. The most important thing to remember is this: To be ready at any moment to give up what you are for what you might become. Love is being stupid together. We need not think alike to love alike. The more anger towards the past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.
